Suffering and God's Glory

I felt so encouraged by the following interaction I had to post it:

Hey C,
When I was first shown this blog I thought it was the cheesiest stereotypical girliest thing ever -- BUT, I have come to find a lot of encouragement from it... Here's one entry I thought you might find helpful:

Hey ann,
thanks for that.
So im wondering, would you agree then that through suffering God's glory will be revealed? I was totally making my suffering about me, "why is this happenning to me?" "What can i do to make it stop?" etc.
So i should just rejoice knowing that God is working something out it me, and one day it will be revealed...to his glory.
is this the right way to look at it?

You have no idea how exciting it is for me to hear you ask these questions. Yes that is the right way to look at it... Everything in life is ultimately for God's glory. Since I'm not eloquent and have a hard time clarifying my thoughts in print, here's something that Spurgeon wrote (Oct 7th Morning reading) on this very same thing that pretty much sums it up :)

It totally makes sense. How can God reveal his love or rather how can we recognize God's love unless we go through trials. How much deeper will our love be for God in those times of peace. So odd, but so amazing. I really like looking at it this way instead of desperately seeking ways to eliminate trails. They're good. They're great. God is good. God is great. I think that trails too are a sign of his grace, would you say? I should feel loved in times of pain, knowing that God is sufficient.
What are your thoughts?

Yes in many ways God allowing trials to come our way is his grace at work. His grace is what allows us to be more and more like Christ (aka to be sanctified) and it's through the fire that our sin is brought to the forefront and is dealt with. And it also serves to remind us of our constant need of/for God - and without the awareness of that need, we fall right back into ourselves
